Since I have little to do most nights while I’m sitting at work, I have been catching up on some local issues and there is one that is particularly “steaming my clams.”  From what I understand, and I encourage people to correct me if I’m wrong, the Huron Valley School Board is looking to outsource their transportation, food service department, and their respective support staff due to an ongoing contract dispute.  

This is where my “washington fuzzy math” fails me… The district wants to cut the above mentioned staff’s medical benefits and days off down and refuse current and future raise requests.  This is understandable because as we all know, “times are tough.”  Are times tough though?  It certainly doesn’t seem that way when HVS employees making more than $70,000 a year were given raises and $700 a month car expenses on top of a pretty decent full health plan…  

$70,000-SIX FIGURE salary + benefits + $700 a month car. 

$8,000-$25,000 salary taking an 18%-25% cut in income and benefits.

I don’t understand how the people who HAVE money keep getting more and more while the people who make the least are getting more and more taken away.  

I’m working on creating a witty sign for my front yard.  A current and former member of the school board live in my neighborhood.  I hope at least one of them gets mad at me so I can tell them whats up.  I also think I am going to try and go to one of the next school board meetings. 

Its real comforting knowing that people get into the education field to get rich these days.  (OOOZING WITH SARCASM)
